dressing like a college student

Apparently the last few days I’ve been really dressing like a college student.

Maybe it’s that post holiday funk I’m still feeling. But I just don’t feel like getting too gussied up. Not that any of my outfits every involve too much… ummm… would it be gus? But in general, my work attire would definitely be categorized as more casual than anything, but lately I feel like I’m taking that to the extreme.

Maybe its because I’ve been wearing more flats lately and at least in my book what makes an outfit fancier (gussier) is a shoe with some height. I’m not talking stripper heels, but a modest wedge or heel. I guess whenever I put on some shoe that gave me a few inch height boost made me feel more bizzzness like. Like a boss!

But lately I’m not feeling the height. And I’m realizing how sad my flat collection has become. You see, there was a time when all I wore was flats, so most of my favorite flats have been thoroughly used and abused. I think its time to start switching out the old and tattered with something new and shiny. My favorite flats EVER are J. Crew’s Cece ballet flats and thankfully J. Crew Factory has made their own (less expensive) version, the Anya. With my 2016 budget goals, I’m trying to be more mindful of when I do spend money on clothes/shoes/accessories I’m not spending in blindly. Meaning, I’m trying to be more mindful of my purchases and have a running list of things that I actually need to help complete my wardrobe. And right now, the things on that last are some new flats. Based on that tattered flats on my shoe-rack, it seems like neutral, gold and red get the most use in my flat-life. And right now, of the three, it seems like a neutral pair is calling my name the loudest.

Annnnd I think my flat rant is over 😉

For now.
